Four Steps new web Design for Google Instant Preview, Have you ever heard of the three second rule? It's the one that states that a visitor will decide in the first three seconds whether or not to stay on the new web. Guess what? That rule doesn't apply anymore; it's now been downsized to 0.3 milliseconds.
As you may or may not know, Google has implemented a new feature called "Instant Preview." What it does is when you perform a search in Google, and your results have popped up, you can now place your mouse cursor over the link and a preview of the site will pop out to the side.
With this innovation, visitors will now be able to judge the site before they ever click on the link. Instead of basing their visits on content, they will now be basing their visit purely on the design on the site. Here are four new web design tips that will help you to create a better instant preview for your projects:
1. No Clutter:
If the sites you have designed, or in the process of designing, include a lot of advertisements, social media icons, sidebar entries, sign-up boxes and so on, you need to clean it up and only place the most valuable things. Having a lot of clutter on the site will minimize the content, making the instant preview look unattractive. One easy way to continue to use the things that you need but display them in a non-abrasive way, is to put the extra content at the footer of the page. Also using neutral colors helps to ease the eye.
2. Don't look Cheap:
Are you using cheap clip art? Are you using a variety of colors that don't necessarily match-up or represent the brand you're designing for? How many fonts are you using and are they legible? Depending on your answers to these questions, if you are doing what's listed above, you're making cheap-looking new webs. The best way to clear this up is to utilize basic design skills and to not get carried away. Sometimes, it can be hard to control what goes into a new web, because some things are controlled by whomever you're working for, but if you voice your opinion, they'll listen. You are the designer.
3. Headlines:
We all should know how important solid headlines are, and great headlines are even better. Creating compelling headlines is in your best interest as they help to break up content, grab attention of viewers and help with SEO.
4. Easy to Scan Content:
Mentioned above, headlines help to break up content. Also, by adding sub-headings, breaking up paragraphs, and using shorter sentences can all be helpful in Google Instant Preview. Visitors will be able to scan the content better, and get to where they need to go faster. If your content has long, unbroken paragraphs, the viewer can get intimidated, so try to focus on breaking it up.
